Weatherization Programs

Weatherization

Homeowners and renters meeting financial guidelines are eligible for free home improvements that increase energy efficiency & decrease heating bills by concentrating on the problems of general heat loss and air infiltration.  Weatherization Program Assistance Brochure

Services provided often include attic, wall, and floor insulation.  Crew members also deal with health and safety issues by installing smoke detectors, checking carbon monoxide levels, informing clients of potential lead risks and checking moisture problems.

Furnace or Water Heater Program

Repair or replacement of inefficient furnaces and water heaters is available for homeowners who are on LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program), commonly referred to as fuel assistance.

Helping Hand Assistance

 

 

Homeowners may apply for assistance with minor non-weatherization repairs such as, electrical, plumbing, roofing and paint purchases. Funds are very limited.

Furnace Clean and Tune

 

Income eligible clients receive a free inspection, cleaning, and tuning of their gas furnace.
Note: the furnace clean and tune is available only for clients who are enrolled in the Home Energy and Assistance Program (LIHEAP) that is administered through County Social Services.  Contact social services in your county for a referral.

 

 

 

Cooling

 

Assistance under the Low-Income Residential Cooling Program is available to LIHEAP-eligible households, who may qualify for a cooling device (an air conditioner or a fan, as the need dictates) or repair to an existing cooling device.  To qualify, you must be age 60 or older OR have a documented medical need, be on fuel assistance OR be LIHEAP eligible and reside in one of the following North Dakota counties:  Grand Forks, Nelson, Pembina, or Walsh.  The program runs May 1st – September 30th.
