Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

VITA Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The IRS sponsors the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program to provide free basic tax return preparation for low-to-moderate income taxpayers.  To qualify, a household of one must make less than $54,000 during the tax year, with exceptions made for added household members per the discretion of the volunteer preparers.

Tax returns with business, farm or rental income do not qualify for the VITA Program.

To use the VITA Program, call Red River Valley Community Action at 701-746-5431 to make an appointment to complete your intake form.  You will need a picture ID and Social Security cards for each member of the household, and any relevant documents such as forms W2, 1099, daycare expenses, etc.
